"Dave and I were broke," Kortney recalled of their life before TV stardom. That's what "Live Happy: The Best Ways to Make Your House a Home" aims to be all about - anecdotes from their lives delivered with humour. They wanted to tell funny stories about life, decor, design, family and marriage. Their viewers know all about that part of their real estate TV lives, they figured. The book isn't about house-flipping though. They'll be signing copies in Toronto and Kitchener this weekend. The Wilsons have a new book that HarperCollins Canada asked them to write. Today, she is Kortney Wilson, television personality and mother to 14-year-old Jett, 12-year-old Sully and nine-year-old Lennox. And there were the twins, Kevin and sister Kelly. Krista and Kortney were the oldest girls. She was Kortney Galerno then, daughter of a hockey-coach dad in a family where the letter K ruled.
She was an Ayr and Kitchener girl, transplanted from Sudbury, who once played Annie in Guelph and was a music-dance-theatre major at Eastwood Collegiate in Kitchener.
He was an Ottawa guy on a two-week songwriting vacation that's now topped two decades. They met on Kortney's first day in Nashville to pursue a country crooning career as Kortney Kayle. She also is thankful to have flipped 125 houses in Nashville with her husband Dave, co-star of HGTV's " Masters of Flip," in the wake of country music careers that brought them together in Tennessee 21 years ago. So, coming up on my 40th, I felt kind of grateful." But we've lost a lot of friends really early - a handful of Nashville friends way too early for different reasons. "I was made to feel like I was supposed to be depressed about it. "I turned 40 last week," former Kitchener resident and house-flipping reality television star Kortney Wilson said this week in a phone interview from Nashville, where flash-flood warnings threatened, but failed, to cancel school for her three kids.
